The verdict
The verdict: Scotiabank will pay you up to $1,000 in cash — $700 for a Preferred or Ultimate Package chequing account, $200 more for bundling a Money Master savings account, and $100 more for a qualifying credit card — if you open the chequing account by October 29, 2026, complete the savings-account bundle by the same date, and survive a requirement tree that takes roughly 10 months to fully pay out. (Scotiabank’s offer terms) It is the largest live flat cash bonus of any chequing/bundle offer on Cash Club’s tracker — with Simplii’s $300 + $50 gift card (ended September 30) now off the board — and TD’s $750 back in play with a relaunched round (open by November 2, 2026) — nothing else currently beats its $1,000 headline. (TD’s offer page) (BMO’s offer page) The catch: this is slow money (the $700 lands about 9 months after you open the account) (Scotiabank’s offer terms), and the fine print has genuine traps — including one where the fine print’s own 60-day windows collide with each other.
Who this is for: Canadians who can move a real payroll or pension direct deposit into a new Scotiabank chequing account for six straight months, keep at least $4,000 parked to waive the monthly fee, and wait the better part of a year for payout. (Scotiabank’s offer terms) (Scotiabank’s fee page)
Your move: Don’t wait until the last week of October — the terms require the savings account to be opened and enrolled in a smart savings tool during the offer period (not just within 60 days of the chequing account), so the 60-day grace period shrinks to nothing for late-October openers. (Scotiabank’s offer terms) Open the chequing account in the first week of October, move your payroll deposit immediately, and enroll in the smart savings tool through the mobile app as soon as you’re eligible.
The three pieces, compared
The offer is three bonuses stacked, not one — and each has its own conditions. All three require you to first qualify for the $700 base piece.
| Piece | Bonus | Core requirement | Payout timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| $700 Package Bonus | $700 | Open a new Preferred or Ultimate Package chequing account by Oct 29, 2026; within 60 days, set up a recurring direct deposit (payroll/pension) that recurs monthly for 6 consecutive months + complete one qualifying activity within 60 days (Scotiabank’s offer terms) | ~9 months after chequing account open date (Scotiabank’s offer terms) |
| $200 Savings Bundle Bonus | $200 | Must qualify for the $700 bonus; during the offer period AND within 60 days of chequing account opening, open a Money Master Savings Account and enroll it in Pay Yourself First or Savings Finder (mobile app only); stay enrolled 90 consecutive days (Scotiabank’s offer terms) | ~10 months after savings account open date (Scotiabank’s offer terms) |
| $100 Credit Card Bundle Bonus | $100 | Must qualify for the $700 bonus; within 60 days of chequing account opening, apply and be approved as primary cardholder for an eligible credit card; within 60 days of the card opening, make at least one qualifying purchase (Scotiabank’s offer terms) | ~10 months after credit card open date (Scotiabank’s offer terms) |
The one qualifying activity for the $700 piece is your choice of three: (i) a recurring pre-authorized transaction of at least $50 that recurs monthly for 6 months, (ii) a single online bill payment of at least $50 through the Scotiabank app or Scotia OnLine, or (iii) an eligible Visa Debit purchase — online debit purchases count, and in-store purchases count only outside Canada. (Scotiabank’s offer terms) The easiest path is option (ii): pay one $50+ bill in the app within 60 days.
The requirement tree: every step and its deadline
Here is the full sequence with deadlines. Note that “the offer ends October 29” is not the only date that matters — five different 60-day and 90-day clocks start the day you open each account.
| # | Action | Deadline | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Open a new Preferred or Ultimate Package chequing account | By October 29, 2026 (26 days left as of Oct 3) (Scotiabank’s offer terms) | Only the FIRST chequing account you open counts (Scotiabank’s offer terms) |
| 2 | Set up a recurring direct deposit (payroll/pension) and receive at least the first one | Within 60 days of chequing account opening | Must recur monthly for 6 consecutive months total (Scotiabank’s offer terms) |
| 3 | Complete ONE qualifying activity: $50+ recurring PAD (6 months), $50+ online bill payment, or eligible Visa Debit purchase | Within 60 days of chequing account opening | The bill payment must go through the Scotiabank Mobile App or Scotia OnLine (Scotiabank’s offer terms) |
| 4 | Open a Money Master Savings Account | During the offer period AND within 60 days of chequing account opening | The “during the offer period” half of this is the trap — open by Oct 29, 2026 no matter what (Scotiabank’s offer terms) |
| 5 | Enroll the savings account in Pay Yourself First or Savings Finder via the mobile app | During the offer period AND within 60 days of chequing account opening | Enrollment sits under the same §4a deadline as the account opening — not a separate 60-day window; mobile-app only; only one tool at a time, but you can switch — and for a new account, only Savings Finder can actually be enrolled inside this window (trap 3 below) (Scotiabank’s offer terms) |
| 6 | Stay enrolled in a smart savings tool | 90 consecutive days from first enrollment | Not 90 days total — 90 consecutive days (Scotiabank’s offer terms) |
| 7 | Apply for and be approved for an eligible credit card (you as primary cardholder) | Within 60 days of chequing account opening | Existing Scotia personal-card primary cardholders from the last 2 years are excluded, including product switches (Scotiabank’s offer terms) |
| 8 | Make at least one qualifying purchase on the card | Within 60 days of the credit card opening | Cash advances, balance transfers, interest, fees, and payments don’t count (Scotiabank’s offer terms) |
| 9 | Keep all accounts open and in good standing | Until each bonus pays out (~9–10 months) | Close early or let an account fall out of good standing and the bonus is gone (Scotiabank’s offer terms) |
| 10 | Flag a missing bonus | Within 24 months of the date you believe you fulfilled the conditions | (Scotiabank’s offer terms) |
A note on who you are in step 7’s joint-account case: on joint accounts, only the primary chequing account holder gets the $200 and $100 bonuses, and that person must be the same client on the chequing, savings, and credit card accounts. (Scotiabank’s offer terms)
Five traps that cost people the bonus
1. “Direct deposit” doesn’t mean moving your own money. The terms explicitly exclude fund transfers initiated to other Scotiabank accounts (including your own credit card or savings), to chequing or savings accounts at other banks, or to payment processors. (Scotiabank’s offer terms) It has to be an automated, recurring deposit like payroll or pension. If your employer still pays by paper cheque, or your income is irregular, you likely can’t qualify.
2. The two deadline regimes collide. The savings account must be opened and enrolled in a smart savings tool during the offer period AND within 60 days of the chequing account opening — both actions sit under the same §4a deadline. Open the chequing account on October 29 and the Money Master must be opened and enrolled the same day — there is no 60-day grace extending past the offer end. (Scotiabank’s offer terms) With 26 days left, this is a now-or-never detail, not a “get around to it” one.
3. Pay Yourself First can’t be enrolled inside the 60 days — plan on Savings Finder. The offer gives you 60 days from opening the chequing account to open the Money Master and enroll it in a Smart Savings Tool, then requires 90 consecutive days enrolled. (Scotiabank’s offer terms) But Pay Yourself First enrollment is blocked until your source account has had at least 4 eligible recurring deposits (over $200 each) and at least one expense (e.g. a bill or mortgage payment) from that account in each of the previous three months. (Scotia Smart Money terms) A chequing account opened for this offer has no previous three months — it can’t show an expense in a month before it existed, so the earliest anyone clears that bar is after three months of account history, past the 60-day deadline. The deposit count doesn’t rescue it at any pay cycle: biweekly pay reaches 4 deposits in about 8 weeks, monthly pay reaches only about 2 in 60 days, and the expense history is missing either way. There’s no older Scotia account to borrow the history from: the offer excludes anyone who held a Scotia chequing account in the last 2 years. (Scotiabank’s offer terms) The good news: the Smart Savings Tool Agreement confirms Savings Finder has no deposit-history prerequisite at all — enrollment just needs an eligible source chequing account, an eligible Money Master target account, and enrollment in Scotia Smart Money by Advice+ (plus both accounts “Any to Sign” for joint accounts). (Scotia Smart Money terms) Enroll in Savings Finder inside the 60 days — the offer lets you switch tools later without restarting the 90-day clock, which runs from your first enrollment. (Scotiabank’s offer terms)
4. The Visa Debit option has a geographic catch. In-store purchases only count if made outside Canada; online debit purchases count anywhere. (Scotiabank’s offer terms) An in-store tap at a Canadian retailer doesn’t count. If you go this route, buy something online or wait for a trip.
5. The lookback periods are longer than they look. No Scotiabank chequing account of any kind in the last 2 years — and that list includes the Basic Bank Account, Student Banking Advantage Plan, and nine other legacy accounts, not just the premium packages. (Scotiabank’s offer terms) Separately: no Money Master in the 6 months before the offer period (back to roughly January 3, 2026) for the $200 piece (Scotiabank’s offer terms), and no Scotiabank personal credit card as primary cardholder in the last 2 years for the $100 piece (Scotiabank’s offer terms). Scotiabank and subsidiary employees are excluded entirely. (Scotiabank’s offer terms)
One more worth knowing: the offer can be changed, cancelled, or extended at any time without notice, and can’t be combined with any other offer on the account. (Scotiabank’s offer terms)
Who this is for (and who it’s not for)
This is for you if: you have steady payroll or pension income you can redirect for six months; you haven’t held any Scotiabank chequing account in the last two years; and you’re comfortable parking a balance to kill the monthly fee — $4,000 daily for the Preferred Package or $6,000 (or a $100,000 Total Relationship Balance) for the Ultimate. (Scotiabank’s offer terms) (Scotiabank’s fee page)
This is NOT for you if: you can’t move a real direct deposit; you held a Scotiabank chequing account any time since October 2024; you held a Money Master since January 2026 (kills the $200); you’ve been a Scotia personal-card primary holder in the last two years (kills the $100); or you need the money fast — the bonuses arrive around months 9 and 10, and closing early forfeits them. (Scotiabank’s offer terms)
Eligible credit cards for the $100 piece (list is subject to change): Scotiabank Scene+ Visa, Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite, Passport Visa Infinite Privilege, Scotiabank American Express Card, Scotiabank Gold American Express, Scotiabank Platinum American Express, Scotia Momentum No-Fee Visa, Scotia Momentum Visa, Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite, and Scotiabank Value Visa. (Scotiabank’s offer terms) Side note: Ultimate Package holders also get an annual fee rebate of up to $150 on a separate list of eligible cards (Gold Amex, Passport Visa Infinite, Passport Visa Infinite Privilege, Momentum Visa Infinite, Value Visa) — but the 2-year exclusion means you can’t be an existing Scotia cardholder and still get the $100 bundle bonus, so this rebate mostly matters if the bundle card is your first Scotia card. (Scotiabank’s offer terms)
The real math: what “$1,000” actually nets you
The monthly fees are real while you wait out the ~10 months to full payout. The Preferred Package costs $16.95/month and the Ultimate Package $30.95/month, each waived entirely if you maintain the minimum daily balance ($4,000 and $6,000 respectively, all month). The Money Master savings account costs $0/month with no minimum balance. (Scotiabank’s fee page) (Money Master page)
| Scenario | Math | Net bonus |
|---|---|---|
| Preferred, maintain $4,000 balance | $1,000 − $0 fees | $1,000 |
| Preferred, pay the monthly fee (~10 months to full payout) | $1,000 − (10 × $16.95 = $169.50) | ~$830 |
| Ultimate, pay the monthly fee (~10 months) | $1,000 − (10 × $30.95 = $309.50) | ~$690 |
| Cheapest path: Preferred + $4,000 parked | $1,000, no fees | $1,000 |
The Preferred Package is the obvious play for most people: same $700 as the Ultimate, a lower fee if you slip below the balance, and the $100 credit card piece doesn’t require the Ultimate’s annual-fee-rebate mechanics to be worthwhile. (Scotiabank’s offer terms)
How it stacks up against every other bank bonus
Ranked by maximum live flat cash bonus, per Cash Club’s promo tracker (checked October 3, 2026). Deposit-tiered savings interest promos (like TD’s savings offer) are a different category — this board compares flat chequing/bundle cash bonuses only:
| Bank | Max live bonus | Offer ends | Effort level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scotiabank | $1,000 ($700 + $200 + $100) | Oct 29, 2026 | 6-month recurring direct deposit + savings tool + card |
| BMO | $900 ($700 + $150 + $50) + Walmart+ up to 12 months | Nov 2, 2026 | Direct deposit ≥$500, two $50+ bill pays or PADs, $10k held in savings |
| CIBC | $850 ($500 + $100 + $250) | none stated | $500/month direct deposit + one of three qualifying actions |
| TD | $750 ($500 + $150 + 4% bonus interest for 90 days — about $100 on a $10,000 balance) | Nov 2, 2026 | 2 of 3 qualifying actions (direct deposit, PADs/bill pays) |
| National Bank | $600 ($300 + $100 + $100 + $100) | Nov 3, 2026 | 20 transactions + 3 automatic deposits ≥$100 |
| Tangerine | $250 | Oct 31, 2026 | Payroll direct deposit ≥$200/month for 2 months |
(BMO’s offer page) One former contender is gone: Simplii’s $300 + $50 gift card ended September 30, 2026 — before today’s date, so it’s correctly excluded from the live board. TD’s up-to-$750, which ended October 1, has since relaunched with a new round ending November 2, 2026 (td.com), and is back on the board above.
The honest comparison: Scotiabank wins on the headline number, but BMO’s $900 may pay out faster for some, and Tangerine’s $250 asks far less of you (two months of direct deposit, no bundle gymnastics). If you want the maximum dollar figure and can handle the six-month deposit commitment, Scotiabank is the pick. If you want money soon, none of these are fast — the quick-cash option (Simplii) already expired.
Your move: the checklist
- This week: Open the Preferred Package chequing account (same $700 as Ultimate, cheaper if you slip below the fee-waiver balance). Do it in the first week of October — every downstream deadline is measured from your open date, and the savings piece must land before October 29 regardless.
- Within days of opening: Redirect your payroll or pension direct deposit. Confirm with HR/payroll that the first deposit lands within 60 days and will recur monthly for 6 consecutive months.
- Within 60 days (and before Oct 29): Pay one $50+ bill through the Scotiabank app (easiest qualifying activity), open the Money Master savings account, and enroll it in Savings Finder via the mobile app (Pay Yourself First can’t be enrolled inside this window — trap 3) — staying enrolled 90 straight days.
- Within 60 days: Apply for an eligible credit card as primary cardholder, then make one purchase within 60 days of the card opening. (Skip cash advances and balance transfers — they don’t count as qualifying purchases.)
- For ~10 months: Keep every account open and in good standing; park $4,000 in the chequing account to waive the $16.95 monthly fee.
- If a bonus never arrives: You have 24 months from when you believe you fulfilled the conditions to dispute it.
Offer ends October 29, 2026 — 26 days from October 3. Not “last call” yet, but the 60-day windows mean starting late costs you the bundle pieces, which is where $300 of the $1,000 lives. (Scotiabank’s offer terms)
