| $175 in cash and cash back on a $0-annual-fee card: 10% back on your first $1,000 of purchases ($100) plus a $75 Great Canadian Rebates rebate (Tangerine’s own terms; GCR listing) | Canadians who have never held a Tangerine credit card and can put $1,000 of normal spending on a new card within 60 days of activating it (Tangerine offer terms; GCR rebate conditions) | Apply by November 30, 2026. Tangerine’s current terms extended the 10% offer to November 30, 2026 (older third-party pages show the previous September 30 cutoff) (Tangerine offer terms; GCR listing) |
The $175 stack math
- $100 — 10% cash back on up to $1,000 in net purchases during the first 60 days after you activate the card. Spend the full $1,000 and the bonus is $100 (Tangerine terms).
- $75 — cash rebate from Great Canadian Rebates, paid when your card is approved, provided you start the application through GCR’s link (GCR listing — “Cash Back Rebate from GCR: $75.00”).
- $175 total, on a card with a $0 annual fee (GCR listing; MoneySense).
After the promo period the card earns 2% back in two categories you choose (three if you deposit rewards into a Tangerine savings account) and 0.5% on everything else (GCR listing).
How to qualify — the exact steps
- Confirm you’re new. The 10% offer is only for new Tangerine credit-card account holders, and GCR’s $75 rebate requires that you’ve never had any Tangerine credit card before (Tangerine offer terms; GCR rebate conditions).
- Apply by November 30, 2026 — that’s the application-date cutoff, per Tangerine’s own terms (Tangerine terms). You’ll need at least $12,000 in personal annual income and must pass Tangerine’s credit check (GCR listing; MoneySense review).
- Route the application through GCR. Click from GCR to Tangerine and complete the application in the same browser session — don’t leave the page mid-application — or the $75 rebate won’t track (GCR rebate conditions).
- Activate within 45 days of approval. The 60-day spending window starts on activation (Tangerine terms).
- Put $1,000 of net purchases on the card within that 60-day window. The $100 bonus is credited to your account within 1–2 statement cycles after the promo period, provided the account is open and in good standing (Tangerine terms).
Fine print / watch-outs
- Net purchases only. Refunds, payments, cash advances (including balance transfers and cash-like transactions), interest, fees and insurance premiums don’t count toward the $1,000 (Tangerine terms).
- One per client, and Tangerine can pull it. The offer may be changed, cancelled or extended at any time (Tangerine terms).
- Don’t confuse it with the World Mastercard. Tangerine’s sibling Money-Back World Mastercard runs a different offer — $120 on $1,500 of spend in 3 months (Frugal Flyer). The $75 GCR rebate here applies to the regular Money-Back Credit Card.
- GCR rebate mechanics. The rebate is paid upon card approval; give it 3 weeks before inquiring about a missing rebate, and you must report a missing rebate to GCR within 3 months of the application date or it’s void. Note: GCR publishes no separate expiry date for the $75 rebate itself — it tracks the live listing and can change or disappear without notice, so start from the GCR link the same day you apply (GCR rebate conditions).
- Don’t carry a balance. The card charges 20.95% on purchases and 22.95% on cash advances (GCR listing). The bonus math only works if you pay in full.
The bottom line
$175 for about $1,000 of spending you’d do anyway, on a card that costs $0 a year. Tangerine just extended the deadline to November 30, 2026 — but rebates and terms can change without notice, so if you qualify, don’t sleep on it.
