The verdict: up to $5,000 in cash for moving savings to TD — but the $5,000 headline is the worst rate of return on its own table. The $10,000 tier pays best.
Who this is for: anyone with $10,000+ sitting at another bank who can leave it untouched for about four months.
Your move: open an eligible TD savings account by November 2, 2026, move the money in from another institution within 30 days, and hold it for 90 days from day 31.

The tiers
| Qualifying deposit | Cash bonus | Bonus as % of deposit | Bonus annualized over ~120 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| $10,000–$24,999.99 | $200 | 2.00% | ~6.1% |
| $25,000–$49,999.99 | $350 | 1.40% | ~4.3% |
| $50,000–$99,999.99 | $600 | 1.20% | ~3.7% |
| $100,000–$249,999.99 | $1,000 | 1.00% | ~3.0% |
| $250,000–$499,999.99 | $2,500 | 1.00% | ~3.0% |
| $500,000+ | $5,000 | 1.00% | ~3.0% |
The base interest stacks on top of the bonus: ePremium pays up to 0.45% on balances of $10,000 or more, and Growth pays tiered rates up to 1.50% for higher balances. Every Day earns interest on every dollar, calculated daily. At Growth’s top rate of 1.50% — which TD describes as for higher balances, so it may not apply to a $10,000 balance — the ceiling all-in annualized equivalent at the $10,000 tier would be roughly 7.6% before the payout wait.
The honest comparison
A flat 4.60% promo HISA over the same ~120-day window would pay about $151 on $10,000, $378 on $25,000, $756 on $50,000, $1,512 on $100,000, $3,781 on $250,000, and $7,562 on $500,000. Note the cap: Simplii’s own 4.60% welcome offer applies to eligible deposits up to $200,000, so above $200,000 the real Simplii payout would be lower than the flat-rate figures for the $250,000 and $500,000 tiers. Against the flat-rate figures:
- $10,000–$50,000: TD wins — at Growth’s top base rate. Bonus plus base interest beats the promo HISA. (At ePremium’s 0.45%, the $50,000 tier would fall behind; the $10,000 and $25,000 tiers still win.)
- $100,000 and up: roughly a tie — at Growth’s top base rate. The bonus plus base lands within about $100 of the flat-rate promo HISA figures. At lower base rates, the HISA pulls ahead; and above $200,000, Simplii’s deposit cap means the real Simplii payout would be lower than the flat-rate figure.
- The $5,000 headline is the worst deal on the table by percentage — 1.00%, the same rate as every tier from $100,000 up. Nobody should move $500,000 for the headline alone.
One timing note: the bonus itself can take up to 12 weeks after conditions are met to land, so the all-in return arrives later than a HISA’s monthly interest.
The catch
- You must be new to TD savings. The offer does not apply to anyone holding a TD savings account as of June 3, 2026.
- The money must come from another institution. Transfers from existing TD accounts do not qualify.
- Partial withdrawals shrink the bonus. If you withdraw or transfer any part of the qualifying funds during the 90-day period, the amount is subtracted and recalculated — and if the qualifying funds fall below $10,000, you are ineligible entirely.
- The lock is real. Deposit within 30 days, hold 90 days from day 31 — roughly four months from opening before the money is free, plus up to 12 weeks for the payout.
Get this if you: have $10,000+ idle at another bank and no TD savings account; can leave the money untouched for about four months; want a lump-sum bonus rather than chasing rotating HISA promos.
Skip it if you: held a TD savings account on June 3, 2026 — you are excluded; might need the money within four months — a dip below $10,000 kills the whole bonus; are moving $100,000+ purely for the headline — a flat 4.60% promo HISA pays about the same at Growth’s top base rate, with monthly interest and no payout wait.
The Club’s take
- Who wins: savers with $10,000–$50,000 at another bank. The small tiers pay the best percentages on the board.
- Who should skip: existing TD savings holders, and anyone who needs the money soon.
- The catch: new money only, a hard $10,000 floor, and a payout that can take up to 12 weeks after you qualify.
FAQ
Do I need to be a new TD customer? No — you need a new eligible TD savings account. But if you held a TD savings account on June 3, 2026, you do not qualify.
Can I move money from my TD chequing account? No. Transfers originating from existing TD accounts do not qualify. The deposit must come directly from another financial institution — Interac e-Transfer, electronic funds transfer, wire, direct deposit, or a cheque deposit all count.
What happens if I withdraw part of the money during the hold? The qualifying amount is recalculated downward. If it falls below $10,000, you lose eligibility for the offer entirely.
When do I actually get paid? Within 12 weeks after all conditions are met, as long as the account is still open and in good standing.
Which of the three accounts should I pick? Growth pays the most base interest for larger balances (tiered rates up to 1.50%). ePremium pays up to 0.45% on balances of $10,000 or more. All three charge a $0 monthly fee.
Is the $5,000 tier worth it? Only if the money was moving anyway. At 1.00% of deposit it is the joint-lowest rate on the table — a flat 4.60% promo HISA over the same window pays about the same (about $7,562 on $500,000 before Simplii’s $200,000 eligible-deposit cap), with interest arriving monthly instead of up to 12 weeks later.
Ranked by cash value from the banks’ own published terms: bonus as a percentage of the qualifying deposit over the ~120-day commitment window, with base interest stated separately.
