Two offers, one deadline

Coast Capital is running two separate new-member offers under one deadline:

  • Chequing — Ends Nov 30, 2026 — 35 days left. $400 for an Unlimited or Elevate chequing account, or $150 for the free account, with a recurring direct deposit kept for 90 days. (Coast Capital’s offer page)
  • Credit card — $1,000 of spending in 90 days. $100 or $200 in statement credit depending on the card, once you spend $1,000 within 90 days of activating it. (the offer’s terms and conditions)

As of October 26, 2026.

Coast Capital chequing: $400 or $150

  • Bonus: $400 for an Unlimited Chequing Account or Elevate Chequing Account; $150 for the Free Chequing, Free Debit and More Account. One chequing bonus per person — if you open more than one, you get the highest value of the accounts you opened.
  • Requirements: Become a new personal member during the promotion period (membership costs $5 in Coast Capital membership shares); open the chequing account within 60 days of receiving confirmation that your membership was approved; set up and receive a recurring direct deposit from a single source within 60 days of approval, and keep it coming at least once a month for a minimum of 90 consecutive days, in the same chequing account until the bonus is paid. Qualifying deposits include payroll, pension, certain government payments, and deposits from employers approved by Coast Capital such as DoorDash, Skip the Dishes, Uber, Uber Eats and Lyft.
  • Expiry: Ends Nov 30, 2026 — 35 days left. The promotion runs from Aug 18, 2026 at 12:01 AM PST to Nov 30, 2026 at 11:59 PM PST.
  • Payout speed: Paid by electronic funds transfer into the chequing account, typically within 60–90 days of Coast Capital confirming you met the criteria. If you start the qualifying criteria in October 2026, expect March–May 2027; November starters should expect April–June 2027.
  • The catch: Quebec residents are not eligible. You must not have held a personal membership, membership share account, or any other personal account with Coast Capital within the five years before the promotion period (on or after Aug 17, 2021), and must not have received a Coast Capital account-opening promotion or benefit in that time. And you must remain a member in good standing for at least six months after the end of the month you receive the bonus — otherwise you must repay the full amount on demand.

Get this if you: can move one steady direct deposit for 90 days and want a credit-union bonus.

Skip it if you: live in Quebec, held a Coast Capital account on or after Aug 17, 2021, or cannot move a recurring deposit.

Coast Capital Mastercard: $100 or $200

  • Bonus: $100 in statement credit on a Classic Mastercard, Cash Back Mastercard, or Centra Gold Mastercard; $200 on a World Mastercard or World Elite Mastercard. The cards are issued by Collabria.
  • Requirements: Become a new personal member during the promotion period; successfully apply for the card within 60 days of membership approval; spend at least $1,000 on the card within 90 days of activating it. Card fees, returns, cash advances and interest charges do not count toward the $1,000.
  • Expiry: Membership must begin during the promotion period ending Nov 30, 2026; the card application must be completed within 60 days of membership approval (which may fall after Nov 30), and the $1,000 of spending must land within 90 days of activation.
  • Payout speed: Statement credit posted during the billing cycle after Collabria confirms you met the criteria.
  • The catch: One card bonus per person, and approval is not guaranteed — Coast Capital and Collabria can decline the membership or the card application, and then there is no bonus. The $600 headline needs the $400 chequing account plus the $200 card; the free-account path tops out at $150 plus the card credit.

Get this if you: already plan to put $1,000 through a new card in three months and can get approved for the World tier.

Skip it if you: would spend just to chase the credit, or do not want a credit application on file.

The fee math

The $400 chequing bonus is not free money until you subtract the account fees. Coast Capital’s own fee page sets the monthly fees and the discounts:

Account Monthly fee With payroll or direct deposit Waived or reduced another way
Free Chequing, Free Debit and More $0 $0 —
Unlimited Chequing $8.50 $3.50 Waived if you are 59 or older, 25 or younger, or hold a $4,000 daily balance all month
Elevate Chequing $16.95 $11.95 $8.50 if you are 59 or older, 25 or younger, or hold a $4,000 daily balance all month

Source: Coast Capital’s service-fee page. The arithmetic on those rates: at the $3.50 discounted Unlimited rate, a year of fees is $42; at Elevate’s $11.95 discounted rate, a year is $143.40. Elevate also carries free Coursera access and ID Assist monitoring with a password manager, plus a one-time rebate of up to $50 — only for World, Cash Back World Elite, or Centra Gold cards held as primary cardholder alongside an Elevate account held as primary account holder — which narrows, but does not erase, the gap. (Coast Capital’s Elevate page) The free account has no monthly fee (paper statements are $3 a month if requested instead of eStatements) but caps the chequing bonus at $150, so the most it can pair with the card is $350.

The Club’s take

  • Who wins: Anyone outside Quebec who can move one recurring deposit for 90 days and hold the account past payout — the Unlimited account at the $3.50 discounted rate keeps almost all of the $400.
  • Who should skip: Quebec residents, anyone with a Coast Capital account on or after Aug 17, 2021, and anyone who cannot keep a direct deposit in place for 90 days.
  • The catch: The payout is slow (March–May 2027 for October starters) and the six-month good-standing rule means the bonus can be clawed back in full if you leave early — this is roughly a year-long relationship (90 days of deposits, then 60–90 days to payout, then six months past the payout month), not a quick flip.

FAQ

Can I get the full $600 with the free account? No. The free account pays $150, so the most it pairs with is the $200 card credit, for $350. The $600 headline needs a $400 account (Unlimited or Elevate) plus the $200 World-tier card credit.

What counts as a qualifying direct deposit? A recurring deposit from a single source, at least once a month, for 90 consecutive days — payroll, pension, certain government payments, or deposits from employers approved by Coast Capital, including DoorDash, Skip the Dishes, Uber, Uber Eats and Lyft. Splitting deposits across sources does not qualify.

When will I actually get paid? The chequing bonus lands by electronic funds transfer typically within 60–90 days of Coast Capital confirming you qualified — March–May 2027 if you start in October. The card credit posts in the billing cycle after Collabria confirms. Then the six-month good-standing clock starts: leave early and the chequing bonus is repayable in full.

I had a Coast Capital account a few years ago — do I qualify? Only if you have held no personal membership, share account, or other personal account with Coast Capital on or after Aug 17, 2021, and received no Coast Capital account-opening promotion or benefit in that time. A joint account counts too: a new member joining a joint account can qualify, but the account earns only one bonus.

What is the cheapest path to the full $600? Open the Unlimited account, set up the payroll deposit that cuts the fee to $3.50 a month, keep it 90 days and past payout, stay a member in good standing for six months after the end of the payout month, and get approved for a World or World Elite card and spend $1,000 on it within 90 days of activation. At the discounted rate the fee drag is small; the bigger cost is the wait.

I bank with Coast Capital for business — can I still qualify? Yes for a personal account, as long as you are a new personal banking member and have not held a personal account within the last five years. Business membership alone does not disqualify you.
